Mother's Day Devotion to Celebrate Yourself
My wish to every mom on Mother’s Day (and every day): Celebrate yourself and feel appreciated.
Celebrating Yourself This Mother’s Day
I hope all your wishes are fulfilled this Mother’s Day.
And if they aren’t, I hope you can be okay with that. And if you can’t be okay with that, I hope you make some changes.
I hope you can make space for any grief you carry.
I hope you celebrate yourself — all that you do and all that you are. I hope you believe in the crooks of your elbows that you are enough.
May you love yourself as much as Snuggle Puppy’s mom loves him. © Sandra Boynton.
I hope you have mom-friends who are real friends. If you do, I hope you send them this. And if you don’t and you want some, I hope you do one thing to help you make them. Because mom-friends are life.
I hope you’re healthy, and your mother is, and your children are. And if anyone isn’t, I’m sorry. Holidays can make that even harder.
I hope you laugh, today and most days.
I hope you pause and hear your kids' laughter. It’s my favorite sound in the whole world.
I hope you eat something yummy, or that your child makes you something they’re proud of but it’s far from yummy and you smile and go mmmm! anyway and in twenty years you can laugh about it with them.
I hope you get some alone time.
I hope your kids get along. And when they don’t I hope you can stay out of it.
I hope if someone gives you flowers, later, after they wilt, they also throw them in the compost and clean the vase so it doesn’t get smelly and you don’t get another chore.
I hope the laundry does itself and puts itself away.
I hope you don’t cook a single meal (unless you want to) or clean a single pot.
I hope you get some alone time and that feels good and I hope you get smothered by your children and that feels good, too.
I hope you can see yourself. Look at you. Just look at you! Happy Mother’s Day.
My ultimate wish for you this Mother’s Day and every day: Happiness, peace, and ease.
XOXO
Erika
